Who are the Seeligs?

It’s surprising how little control we have over our lives. When Russ and I bought our first house in Seattle he had a dreadful job installing industrial air filters and I was once again a student.  And of course the furnace in our new home didn’t work. The oil company sent a repairman who was closely followed by a salesman who wanted to get us set up for oil delivery.  While he was there he happened to mention that his company, Martin Fuel, was looking for a furnace repairman. Since almost anything would have been preferable to the air filter thing Russ went to oil burner school, got the job, and spent the next 11 years fixing their furnaces. But after 11 years Martin Fuel was sold to Sound Oil and we decided to start our own oil company.  That was over 20 years ago. In those ensuing years some things have changed and some haven’t.  Russ doesn’t have to deliver the oil anymore – we have John for that, and he doesn’t have to fix all the furnaces – we have Tony to help him, and I don’t have to answer all the phone calls anymore – Sue is here in the office.   But we’re still a small family-owned organization and there’s still a good chance that I’ll answer the phone or Russ will be the one to show up to work on your heating system.  Knowing our customers and being personally responsible for keeping them warm is one of the things that continues to make this business so rewarding.
